We have an amazing crew here at Site9. We tend to be somewhat modest in our presence with clients and prospects, but it’s time to make some noise (just a little) and introduce you to just a few of the folks responsible for ProtoShare 5. From those behind the scenes in Management (don’t forget our Board of Directors & Advisors), Marketing, and Engineering to those on the frontlines in Sales, Education, and Customer Service, we all play a role in serving and supporting you.
We really do enjoy our work on ProtoShare and in helping you achieve your goals for website wireframes and web app prototypes. Even though some days sure feel like it, we’re not drones in a dark cave slaving over computer monitors. Our team is diverse, interesting, full of personality, and each member brings his/her own expertise to the table.
Over the next few weeks, I will introduce you to the Site9 team – members’ roles, interesting facts, and their best ProtoShare tips.
This week, we start with CEO Andrew Mottaz (pronounced mow-tah). As head of the company, Andrew has a lot to say about everything – but in a good way. He’s an expert on the website and web app development process, so he has good feedback to help each of us put our best feet forward.

How would you describe your role?
As founder and CEO, I feel like my main job is to remove obstacles that prevent others from getting things accomplished. It’s fantastic to have a team of smart, motivated people that I can rely on.
How long have you been with Site9?
Since 1999
What do you like most about your job?
A few things – I enjoy working with everyone here. I also love the challenge of software and the Internet. There is something new to learn every day.
Tell us something most people wouldn’t guess upon first meeting you.
I have a law degree, but I would have been a terrible lawyer.
Favorite food
Right now I’m going to have to go with the Steak Frites at the Laurelhurst Meat Market.
Favorite book
Anything by Neal Stephenson.
Favorite movie
I think I’ll say Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – though this is a tough one. I thought that film was really thought provoking.
Words to live by
“The secret to getting ahead is getting started.” — Mark Twain
When I’m not working, I’m likely…Spending time with my 6 year old.
Best accomplishment in life so far
I know it sounds trite, but my daughter. Watching her learn and grow keeps me on my toes, and teaches me how to look at things from a different perspective.
Share with us an item on your Bucket List
I’d like to spend a few years on a Greek island.
This year, I’m most looking forward to…Adding useful features to ProtoShare quickly throughout the year. After a long development cycle on ProtoShare 5, we’re focused now on lots of quick, useful improvements. I’m excited to see what we’ll accomplish.
What do you like most about ProtoShare?
I love being able to quickly get ideas out. I’ve always worked by just putting something on paper and revising a lot. With ProtoShare, I feel like I can get ideas out of my head quickly and start to getting feedback immediately to help me move forward.
Best ProtoShare tip
I love putting a wireframe, a design comp and a development site into ProtoShare side-by-side as three designs on a page. It really lets you see and understand what you’re building and why.
